Vol. 247 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mushroom Grant Scheme.

46.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (a) the number of applications received for grants under the scheme for the production of mushrooms; (b) if the amount of £150,000 allocated is being disbursed among various growers; (c) if he will give an assurance that this entire sum is not given to any one individual or any one concern.

I hope to publish shortly the details and conditions of the proposed scheme of grants for mushroom production which was announced in the Budget. In the meantime, while a number of inquiries have been received, the question of dealing with applications does not arise.

Obviously the total funds made available will not be given as a grant to one applicant only. In fact my intention has been to fix a suitable maximum grant limit for any individual case.
