Vol. 247 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Travel and Electricity Schemes.

16.

Mr. R. Barry, Mr. O'Sullivan and Mr. P. Barry

asked the Minister for Finance if he will extend the benefit scheme to include free travel and free electricity for the widows of IRA pensioners.

I do not at present contemplate extending the concession to widows of IRA pensioners as suggested in the question.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance the operative date for the grant of free travel to wives under 70 years of age of IRA medal holders and of old age pensioners for which provision was made in the Budget.

It is hoped to have arrangements for the extension of the free travel scheme referred to by the Deputy completed by mid-July. Details will be fully publicised when final arrangements have been completed.
