The amount provided in the current year's Vote for my Department for payment to CIE in respect of the provision of free travel facilities for pensioners is £650,000. This amount is based broadly on the cost of the use of the facility by pensioners, appropriate allowance being made for the restriction of the facility to the off-peak travel hours.
