Vol. 248 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dispensary Midwives.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if he will grant long service increments to dispensary midwives who have been refused them by the County and City Managers Association.

Long service increments have been awarded to institutional nurses in the service of local health authorities by the arbitrator appointed under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for local authority officers.

If dispensary midwives consider that they are entitled to a similar award it is open to them to put their case to the arbitrator, and I shall be happy to consider any ensuing proposals.

In the meantime the Deputy will be reassured to learn that midwives will benefit under the forthcoming "12th round" pay adjustment.
