Vol. 253 No. 7

Written Answers. - Planning Applications.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is the practice for local authorities to notify planning applications to associations which are concerned with preserving the amenities of an area; and if he will remind local authorities to observe this practice in all cases, even in relation to developments proposed by local authorities themselves.

I assume the associations referred to by the Deputy are those prescribed in the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963 (Permission) Regulations, 1964: An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Bord Fáilte Éireann, An Taisce and The National Monuments Advisory Council. In so far as I am aware, planning authorities are notifying these prescribed bodies in appropriate cases and I do not consider any reminder in this regard is required from me. Development which is proposed by a planning authority to be carried out in its own district is exempted development for the purpose of the Act provided of course that it does not materially contravene the development plan for the area.
