Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Relative Allowance.

40.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a girl, who has given up employment to care for her mother who is an old age pensioner and an invalid, is entitled to the prescribed relative allowance of £2.75 per week.

It would not be possible without knowledge of all the facts to say whether the conditions for payment of the prescribed relative allowance are fulfilled in any individual case. If the Deputy gives me particulars of any case he may have in mind, I will have the matter examined. I would remind the Deputy that it is not now a condition for payment of the allowance that the prescribed relative should have left insurable employment.
