Vol. 255 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Magazine Advertisement.

57.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the publication in certain magazines on public display and sale in the city of Dublin of a certain advertisement (particulars supplied) in contravention of the provisions of Part IV and other provisions of the Censorship of Publications Act, 1929; and if he proposes to take any action in the matter.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, the institution of criminal proceedings is a matter for the Garda Síochána, acting where necessary in consultation with or on the directions of the Attorney General.

I have no doubt that the question of legal proceedings is being or will be considered in relation to the matter mentioned in the question and it is not a matter for me to make any further statement about it, at all events as long as the matter may become the subject of proceedings.

Do I understand from the Minister that he is telling me to complain to the Attorney General?

No, I have not said that.

Sir, I should like to raise this matter on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
