Vol. 255 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Moneylending Legislation.

58.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce amending legislation relating to moneylenders to provide that not more than one moneylender may have the same client on his books at the same time.

I do not think such a restriction is workable and, even if it were workable, I am not satisfied that it would not do more harm than good. In any event, an amending Bill could not be considered for quite some time because of the need to bring in other Bills already in preparation.
