Vol. 256 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Unemployment.

105.

andMr. G. Lynch asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the serious unemployment position in rural areas, he will consider making extra funds immediately available for projects such as river drainage and road improvement.

An additional £75,000 is being provided this year for arterial drainage works and an additional £500,000 was provided in the Budget for local improvement schemes covering mainly road and minor drainage works. I would refer the Deputies to the statement on the general economic situation which I made in the House yesterday.
