Vol. 259 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo School Repairs.

37.

asked the Minister for Education if he will have the necessary repairs carried out to Cloonlyon national school, Charlestown, County Mayo, in view of the sanitary conditions there which are a danger to the children and teachers.

My Department have decided that improvement works, including the provision of water-flushed sanitation, should be provided at Cloonlyon national school as a matter of urgency. The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to arrange accordingly.

Is the Minister aware that there is a strike there at the moment? The matter is a very urgent one and I suggest that the Minister instruct his Department to have the work carried out immediately.

If the Deputy had been listening to my reply he would know that I stated I am treating the matter as one of urgency.
