It is my intention to provide for the closure of this section of the Grand Canal, with a view to its transfer to Dublin Corporation. Provision will be contained in legislation for the transfer of the canal as a whole to the Office of Public Works. I intend to seek Government approval to introduce such legislation in the next session.
Does the Minister think it is a good bet to close the canal?
This is not about closing the canal. It is about a small portion of the canal in Dublin. The Deputy does not know what he is talking about.
