Vol. 265 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arklow Harbour Development.

63.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the proposals for the development of Arklow Harbour.

As the reply is of a technical nature I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following are the proposed works under the improvement scheme for Arklow Harbour for which a full-cost State grant of £350,000 was approved:

(a) dredging of the channel and berths to required minimum depths;

(b) provision of

(i) a turning basin capable of accommodating ships of 300 feet in length;

(ii) two new berths on the north side of the harbour;

(iii) a new berth on the south side;

(c) necessary repairs of the North and South Piers;

(d) sheet piling at the North Pier elbow and the removal of obstacles in the river at the elbow.
