As the Deputy is aware, there are a number of organisations concerned with the training and placement of mentally handicapped persons. AnCO co-operates with these organisations and provides places in its training centres for those handicapped people who are regarded as suitable for the normal training given by AnCO.
AnCO proposes to continue this policy of co-operation with the relevant organisations and to increase the number of training places for the mentally handicapped as it expands its overall training capacity.
The National Manpower Service also co-operates closely with those organisations in regard to placement.
As indicated in my Estimate speech, I am also considering legislation to establish a quota system for the employment of handicapped persons.
