Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Company.

47.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if a company (particulars supplied) has applied for permission to open a plant in this country; if permission has yet been given; and, if so, if the company will qualify for the usual tax exemptions and grants.

The Industrial Development Authority are at present discussing with the firm named the possibility of their establishing a plant in this country. As negotiations are only at the preliminary stage, it is not possible to say if the firm will qualify for tax exemptions or grants.

Would they need the Minister's permission to open here?

It is a matter of permission, but the firm are a very important one and a rapidly growing firm and it is a matter of some pleasure to the IDA and to me that they have decided to locate a branch here.

We do not share the Minister's pleasure.
