Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly School.

78.

asked the Minister for Education if Esker national school, County Offaly, will reopen after the summer holidays.

Mr. R. Burke

With a view to providing better educational facilities for the children in the Esker school district, a proposal was made to the reverend manager of Esker National School in the early months of 1972 that the school should be amalgamated with the national school at Daingean.

I understand, however, that some of the Esker parents are not in favour of this amalgamation and I have accordingly given instructions that, for the present, no further action on the part of my Department to be taken towards the closure of the school.
