Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dublin City Schools.

145.

asked the Minister for Education when a decision may be expected on the future of the vocational schools at Ringsend and Upper Mount Street, Dublin.

146.

asked the Minister for Education if he has any plans for replacing the vocational school at Cambridge Road, Ringsend, Dublin.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 145 and 146 together.

It has already been agreed that the existing boys' vocational schools in Ringsend and Mount Street be replaced by a new vocational school in Ringsend. The project has been delayed because of site problems. A feasibility study submitted by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee is at present being examined in the Department. This study proposes that the school should cater for girls as well as boys: this had not been envisaged in the earlier proposals.

I shall have the matter brought to decision with the least possible delay.
