Written Answers. - Arterial Drainage.

286.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide further funds for extra drainage schemes in Counties Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon and Mayo in view of their similarity geographically, geologically, economically and socially.

The national arterial drainage programme is proceeding on the basis of established priority lists which have been published and upheld by successive Governments and which cater for all areas, including those areas mentioned.

287.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider making moneys available for drainage in the west of Ireland in order to further the growth of land productivity there and to equate it with industrial development.

As my predecessor told the Deputy in reply to a similar question on 10th February, 1971, the national arterial drainage programme is proceeding on the basis of established priority lists which have been upheld by successive governments and which cater generously for western areas.
