Vol. 269 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park Extension.

36.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the progress that has been made on work at the Phoenix Park extension, Dublin.

Mr. Kenny

As I informed the Deputy in reply to an earlier question, the area south of the river is being developed for leisure and recreational purposes including the provision of a golf course. The overall design of the golf course has been settled and the preparation of detailed drawings and specification is well advanced. It should be possible to invite tenders for first stage construction works next year. The planning of the clubhouse is also in hands and the erection of fencing around the course and preliminary clearance works are making good progress.

The stretch of land along the Chapelizod Road north of the river has been cleared and graded and development plans for this stretch are under consideration.
