Vol. 271 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Galway Water Scheme.

72.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department has yet agreed to the proposed extensions to the Caltra-Castleblakeney-Ballymacward group water supply scheme, County Galway; and, if so, if he will indicate when work may be expected to commence.

My Department's supervising inspector for County Galway recently visited the area and discussed the proposed extensions with representatives of the Castleblakeney-Ballymacward group. He arranged that the design engineer engaged by the group would furnish plans covering the precise areas covered by the proposed extensions. When these plans are received they will be examined jointly by my inspectors and Galway County Council's liaison officer for group schemes to confirm whether all, or any, of the extensions are technically feasible.

In the circumstances it is not possible at this stage to indicate if and when work may commence on the proposed extensions.
