Vol. 272 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Design of Residential Areas.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if regard is had to civic architectural qualities in the design of residential areas.

New local authority residential areas are designed by properly qualified professional personnel. I have made clear my policy to secure the highest environmental standards in such areas. The design of other residential areas is in the first instance a matter for the private sector, but planning authorities in considering applications for permission have regard to the architectural quality of the design.
