The number of prosecutions taken under the Factories Act, 1955 was, 19 in 1971, 47 in 1972 and 84 in 1973.
I am responsible for the enforcement of the Office Premises Act, 1958, in respect of offices attached to factories and offices occupied by the State. The responsibility for the enforcement of the Act, in so far as all other offices are concerned, rests with the sanitary authorities. No prosecutions have been taken in the three years mentioned in relation to the offices where enforcement is the responsibility of my Department.
