Vol. 276 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Inspectors.

53.

asked the Minister for lands if he is aware that there are less inspectors attached to the Land Commission office in Cork than in former years; and if he will arrange to have the number increased to deal with the large volume of work on hand.

(Cavan): The number of inspectorate staff now attached to the Cork office of the Land Commission is 12 compared with 11 in April of this year. Comparable figures for recent years are as follows: April 1973: 13; April 1972: 13; April 1971: 13. Between November, 1973 and November, 1974, normal staff turnover accounted for the departure of three inspectors. Two of these were replaced by newly-recruited inspectors and the third replacement is due for transfer to Cork in January, 1975. This will restore the number to 13.

Recruitment of inspectors is proceeding and the needs of the Cork area are being kept in mind with a view to augmenting the staff there if necessary.
