asked the Minister for Lands if the Wild Life Bill will include sections for the protection of insects.

asked the Minister for Lands in the context of proposed legislation if he will make the use of the gin trap and the bird pole trap illegal.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will initiate legislation to increase police powers under the Firearms Act to prohibit the use of lights for the taking of deer; and if he will examine the question of shooting at night with a view to permitting it after prior notice has been given to the police and introduce higher fines with mandatory confiscation of equipment including vehicles, and the revocation of firearms' certificates should an offence be committed.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider making it an offence to sell venison except to licensed game dealers who must keep records.

I expect that the Wild Life Bill, 1974, will be circulated shortly. In the meantime, apart from stating that it is a very comprehensive measure, I would prefer not to comment in advance on its detailed provisions. However, I can assure the Deputy that the various matters referred to have been taken into consideration.
