34.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of persons who are not civil servants employed by him since March, 1973; their names; their status; and their salaries.

The following persons who are not civil servants were employed by me since March, 1973:

Mr. Niall Greene, Personal Assistant on Industrial Affairs, was appointed in a temporary capacity on secondment from a State body from July, 1973, to July, 1974, on a salary scale of £3,329 to £3,686 per annum.

Mr. John Horgan was appointed as a socio-economist in July, 1974; the appointment is on a temporary fee-paid basis at a maximum annual fee of £4,191.

In addition, two research workers and 23 interviewers were appointed in a temporary capacity for work on labour availability surveys. The research workers are on a salary scale of £2,259 to £2,393 per annum and the interviewers, whose periods of appointment from August to December, 1974, ranged from four weeks to 17 weeks, were paid at the rate of £30 per week.

A medical doctor with qualifications in industrial health was also engaged for six months to undertake a medical survey in the industrial inspectorate and was paid a total of £1,996 in fees for this work.
