Vol. 279 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Industry.

61.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the prospects he envisages for procuring an industry for Carndonagh, County Donegal.

Despite the availability of an advance factory at attractive terms and of a suitable three-acre site, efforts to attract industry to Carndonagh have so far been unsuccessful. The difficult economic circumstances prevailing worldwide have been an inhibiting factor.

The IDA will make a special effort this year to achieve substantial industrial development in this area. I cannot forecast what success they will have.

62.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the efforts that are being made to procure an industry for Buncrana, County Donegal.

For the purpose of stimulating industrial development in Buncrana the Industrial Development Authority is purchasing approximately 36 acres of land for industry in the town.

I understand that the authority intends building a 10,000 sq. ft. advance factory on part of this site and that another portion of the land has been reserved for a project which is under negotiation.
