My Department have no plans at present for the closure of Roxborough national school.

172.

asked the Minister for Education if he will restore the transport facilities which have been taken from pupils attending Roxborough national school, Ballinrobe, County Mayo.

The transport service to Roxborough national school was withdrawn after the Easter, 1975, vacation as the number of eligible children being conveyed had fallen below nine for two consecutive terms. This is the minimum number required to maintain a service.

At present there are only five children in this particular locality who are deemed eligible for free transport to Roxborough national school. Claims have been made that certain other children are also eligible and these claims are being examined at present.
