Vol. 284 No. 5

Written Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Claim.

113.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the circumstances under which a married woman's claim for unemployment assistance will be considered.

In order to become the holder of a qualification certificate, which is an essential preliminary to claiming unemployment assistance, a married woman must not be dependent on her husband and must have at least one dependant. The latter may be either an invalid husband who is wholly or mainly maintained by her or a child dependant. To be entitled to assistance her means must be within the statutory limit appropriate in her case and she must be genuinely unemployed and in search of work.
