Vol. 285 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Water Scheme.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed Mullacuttra group water scheme, Claregalway, County Galway; and the reason for the delay in this scheme.

I understand that in April, 1975, subsequent to the approval of the scheme by my Department and the Galway County Council, the latter proposed a number of changes in regard to sizes of pipes in several sections of the scheme. On the basis of the revised quotations then obtained by the scheme trustees, the increase in cost would be about £15,900. This increase has been examined by my Department and, while in relation to the increase in pipe sizes it would not be unreasonable, it is considered necessary to raise with the county council the need for the increased pipe sizes. This is being done.
