Vol. 286 No. 10

Written Answers. - School Transport Service.

266.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport is not being provided for school children (names supplied) attending Pullough national school, County Offaly; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record in the Department of an application for transport to Pullough national school having been made on behalf of these children. If an application is made in the normal way through the chairman of the school's board of management, the matter will be considered.

267.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport is not being provided from the home of a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who is attending a slow learners class at Scoil Bríde, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This child at present has free transport on a school bus to Tullamore, but the pick-up point is over four miles from his home. Unfortunately, the bus route cannot be extended to his home without causing serious inconvenience to other pupils. I am continuing investigations to see if alternative arrangements can be made.
