Vol. 287 No. 8

Written Answers. - Rosslare Harbour Development.

70.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if any progress has taken place regarding the Rosslare Harbour development plan; if any suitable research station has been found to undertake the model investigation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In view of the conditions obtaining at Rosslare Harbour, my technical advisers recommended a scientific model investigation of the harbour to establish the resulting effects of sea and swell consequent on the proposed development works. CIE approached the Wallingford Hydraulics Research Station in the matter, but because of other commitments they would not be able to undertake the model investigation until September, 1976. CIE are now exploring the possibility of having the investigation carried out at an earlier date by another laboratory.
