The amounts provided in the Estimates for each of the school years 1972-73 and 1973-74 were £50,000 and £35,000 respectively. The amount actually expended was £33.876 for 1972-73 and £24,775 for 1973-74. The grant was not fully utilised in the years in question because the number of schools participating in the scheme and the number of students enrolled was lower than had been anticipated.
