Vol. 288 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Cork Unemployment Benefit.

65.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have unemployment benefit paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The claim for unemployment benefit made by the person concerned on 14th October, 1975 was disallowed by a deciding officer on the ground that the statutory condition for the receipt of unemployment benefit which requires a claimant to be available for employment was not satisfied. She appealed against this decision and an appeals officer, following an oral hearing at which the claimant attended and gave evidence, allowed the appeal in respect of the period from 14th October, 1975 to 19th December, 1975 inclusive, but upheld the decision of the deciding officer with effect from 20th December, 1975. Payment of all unemployment benefit due to the claimant as a result of this decision has been made to her. An appeals officer's decision is final in the absence of new facts of fresh evidence.
