Vol. 289 No. 5

Written Answers. - Apprenticeship Employment.

110.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of apprentices unemployed at present; and the periods of apprenticeship that had been served by them.

As at 29th February, 1976, a total of 1,494 apprentices were notified to AnCO as being unemployed in apprenticeships. This figure can be broken down as follows:

1st year

39

2nd year

308

3rd year

398

4th year

348

5th year

401

1,494

Surveys carried out by AnCO, however, indicate that of the 1,494 many had got other jobs and only about 26 per cent, 390, were in fact, out of work.
