Vol. 295 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cement Sales.

4.

asked the Taoiseach the domestic cement sales in October, 1975, and in October, 1976; and the percentage change.

Total domestic sales of cement in October, 1975, were 152,210 tons and in October, 1976, were 139,430 tons. This represents a decline of 8.4 per cent relative to the October, 1975, level.

Is the decline to which the Parliamentary Secretary referred calculated in value rather than in volume terms?

The figures given are in terms of tons weight.

And the percentages in terms of volume?

The decline relates to tons.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary agree that the decline in production here is accounted for by the decline in the number of houses being built?

The Deputy may not enter into an area of policy which would be a matter for another Minister.
