The proposal to which the Deputy refers is being considered in my Department. Information is being sought from Cootehill Town Commissioners and Cavan County Council about the accumulation of the surplus funds. When replies have been received from these authorities, the position will be examined by the auditor with a view to establishing the actual surplus available. A decision will then be made on the proposal received from the town commissioners.
