asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the structure of the board of management in (i) primary schools, (ii) vocational schools, (iii) community schools, and (iv) comprehensive schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The detailed position in regard to boards of management in primary schools and vocational schools is set out in documents of which I am having copies made available in the Dáil Library, documents entitled respectively "Guidelines for Boards of Management in Primary Schools" and "Circular Letter Number 73/74".

The situation in summary form is as follows:

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

(1) not more than six teachers: board of seven members; four members appointed by the patron, two members, one being a mother, parents of children enrolled in the school, elected by the parents of children attending the school, the principal teacher.

(2) seven or more teachers: board of ten members; six members appointed by the patron, two members one being a mother, parents of children enrolled in the school elected by the parents of children attending the school, the principal teacher of the school, one other teacher in the school elected by the teaching staff.

VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS

Composition suggested by the Minister either, as in the circular letter, namely; four members of the VEC, two parents, one of whom being a mother, elected by parents of children attending the school, or, as indicated on 2nd April, 1975 namely; two-thirds of members to be nominated by the VEC, one-third of members to be two parents (as above); and one representative elected by the teachers of the school the principal teacher to act as secretary to the board.

COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

Board of six members in Deed of Trust (draft already in Dáil Library), namely; two nominees of religious orders involved, two elected parents' representatives, two nominees of the vocational education committee.

COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOLS

Board of three or of five as arranged in individual, namely; either; one nominee of the Ordinary of the Diocese, one nominee of the VEC, or one nominee of the Minister for Education; or; three nominees of the religious authority, one nominee of the VEC, one nominee of the Minister for Education.
