Vol. 301 No. 10

Written Answers. - Electrical Rewiring Grants.

378.

asked the Minister for the Environment the effect an electrical rewiring grant has on a subsequent application for a reconstruction grant; if electrical rewiring grants are payable earlier than 15 years from the last reconstruction grant in respect of any house; and if he proposes to make any changes in the situation.

As grants in respect of electrical rewiring are payable under the provisions of section 21 of the Housing Act, 1966, the 15 years limiting period between grants normally applies. The scheme of grants is being reviewed and I expect to announce details of a new scheme of house improvement grants in the near future.
