asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to increase the £25 a month child care allowance.

Increases in allowances of this sort are usually considered in the context of the annual budget.

While I appreciate the number of demands on the Minister's Department, this is one area which has not been increased since its introduction in 1973, and will the Minister agree that the cost of living has increased by 100 per cent in that time?

The Coalition did let the cost of living go up.
