Vol. 303 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kerry Pension Application.

312.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person (name and details supplied) in County Kerry has not received any pension even though he applied last August.

An application for contributory old age pension was received from the person concerned on 5 September 1977. Unfortunately, he furnished an incorrect insurance number on the claim form which was, in addition, not fully completed. This necessitated further inquiries, resulting in delay, before the claimant's insurance record was finally traced. His record showed that he did not satisfy the statutory contribution condition for receipt of contributory old age pension which requires the claimant to have at least 156 contributions paid since entry into insurance and his claim was accordingly disallowed. He has been advised of this decision and of his right to appeal against it if dissatisfied. Arrangements have been made to have his eligibility for a non-contributory old age pension investigated and he will be notified in due course of the result.
