Vol. 303 No. 5

Written Answers. - Timber Based Industry.

237.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he will take steps to have an industry set up in Donegal based on the large amount of timber now becoming available from forests there.

The Industrial Development Authority in co-operation with the Forest and Wildlife Service of the Department of Fisheries are engaged on a comprehensive study of the timber processing industry with a view to identifying how the maximum return can be obtained from our timber resources. On completion of the study, the prospects for the establishment of industrial projects based on local timber supplies will be examined in detail. In this connection full consideration will be given to the needs of County Donegal.
