(2) the data in respect of agencies under the aegis of this Department is attached. A considerable amount of indirect employment is generated by the Office of Public Works, and this is increasing with the injection of additional money into the offices building programme but it is not possible to quantify the numbers involved.

The following is the information sought:

(1) Direct employment by Department (all employees):

In addition to the foregoing a number of contractors are engaged by the Forest and Wildlife Service on cartage, transport of road materials and on the provision of machinery generally. Such contract work is irregular and difficult to quantify.

1 January 1978: 557

At this stage it is not possible to forecast employment as at 1 January 1979.
