Vol. 306 No. 7

Written Answers. - Bray (Wicklow) Post Primary Places.

164.

asked the Minister for Education the number of additional post-primary places he anticipates will be needed in the next five years in the area north of the Dargle river in Bray, County Wicklow, and south of Ballybrack village; if he anticipates that these needs will be served by one additional school, or if more than one school will be required; and the number of such places which will be needed for girls and boys.

Statistics of primary school leavers and population growth available at present would indicate that approximately 540 additional post-primary places, divided equally between boys and girls, will be needed in the next five years in the area north of the Dargle river in Bray, County Wicklow, and South of Ballybrack village.

It is anticipated that in the short-term one new school will be required which would cater for pupils at present travelling to schools situated outside the area and the estimated increase in total pupil numbers.
