Vol. 306 No. 9

Written Answers. - Occupational Injuries Fund Accounts.

96.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why the accounts for the Occupational Injuries Fund for the year ending 31 December 1974 were not laid before the Oireachtas until 10 May 1978; and if he will state when the preparation of these accounts was completed, when their auditing was completed. and when they were presented to him.

Due mainly to printing delays over which my Department has no control the account of the Occupational Injuries Fund for the nine months ended 31 December 1974 was not laid before the Oireachtas until 10 May 1978.

The draft account for the nine months ended 31 December 1974, which was an interim accounting period introduced to facilitate the changeover to calendar year accounting as from the beginning of 1975, was completed by the end of June 1976 and submitted informally for approval to the Comptroller and Auditor General. The account was finalised in December 1976 and signed by the Secretary of my Department on 30th of that month. The formal auditing of the account was completed on 26 January 1977 when it was signed by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
