151.

asked the Taoiseach the average number of man-days lost due to industrial disputes by each member of the workforce in (a) public sector employment, by each Government Department; (b) private sector; and (c) private sector manufacturing industry in the year for which the most recent information is available.

: With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 150 and 151 together.

The estimated total man-days lost due to industrial disputes per 1,000 employees in all sectors in 1977 was 594. The particular sectoral subdivision requested in Question No. 151 is not available but it is possible to compile, from the available information, an estimate of man-days lost due to industrial disputes per 1,000 employees for the manufacturing industry sector; the relevant estimate for 1977 was 1,313.
