Vol. 307 No. 13

Written Answers . - US Dollar Bank Loans .

152.

asked the Minister for Finance if an Irish bank (details supplied) was authorised under the Exchange Control Acts, 1954-74, to lend amounts of US dollars outside Ireland.

: As the bank in question was not an authorised dealer under the Exchange Control Acts 1954 to 1974 it would have required specific permission from the Central Bank to extend a loan in US dollars. Applications under the Exchange Control Acts are confidential and the Central Bank is therefore unable to state whether or not an application was received in this case and, if so, whether it was granted.
