Vol. 307 No. 14

Written Answers . - County Leitrim Unemployment Benefit .

123.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that more than 30 people who are unemployed as a result of Dowrosa, Dowra, County Leitrim, closing down, have been refused unemployment benefit due to the failure of the company to stamp their cards; if he will take steps to have the benefit paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: Claims for unemployment benefit from the persons concerned have been the subject of certain inquiries by my Department. These inquiries, which are still continuing, have been completed in respect of nine of the persons concerned and arrangements have been made for the payment of benefit to them this week. It is hoped to have the inquiries completed in respect of the remainder in the very near future and their claims will then be decided without delay.
