Vol. 307 No. 14

Written Answers . - Moyvalley (County Kildare) Post Office .

139.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the present position and future plans in regard to the post office and telephone exchange in Moyvalley, County Kildare, the rate of remuneration available to those prepared to undertake the operation of the post office and telephone exchange in an area such as this; and when this remuneration was last raised in line with inflation.

: A vacancy for a postmaster-postmistress will arise at Moyvalley sub-post office in August 1978. The vacancy has been advertised. It is intended to convert the telephone exchange to automatic working but this is unlikely to be done for some years yet. The rate of remuneration for a new appointee would be about £3,200. The remuneration of postmasters generally was last increased with effect from 1 March 1978.
