Vol. 309 No. 8

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

401.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the Castleblayney, County Monaghan, telephone exchange will be converted to automatic working; and the present position regarding the purchase of a site for the exchange.

In about 2½ years, assuming a site for a new building can be acquired quickly. A site has been selected but legal formalities for acquisition of it have not yet been completed.

402.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state, in relation to each of the following estates in south County Dublin, if applicants will be connected in order of application, or if each estate will be effectively connected as a unit, once cabling and exchange facilities become available (a) Wedgewood; (b) Grange Wood; (c) Llewellyn, and (d) Moreen.

It is expected that when the necessary cabling and exchange equipment becomes available all waiting applicants in these areas will be given service within a short time. Because of this, installation will be arranged in the most productive way to enable all applicants to be given service as quickly as possible and this may involve some applications not being dealt with in strict order of application.

403.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if his Department will provide a telephone to a person (details supplied) in County Cork due to his urgent medical situation.

It is expected that service will be provided within the next two months or so.

404.
