Vol. 310 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Computer Society Courses.

8.

asked the Minister for Education the cost to his Department of the in-service courses undertaken by the Computer Education Society of Ireland during the past year for the training of teachers.

A sum of £600 was paid by my Department towards the cost of in-service courses for teachers undertaken by the Computer Education Society of Ireland during the past year.

Has the Minister any intention of increasing the subsistence and travelling allowances in respect of these courses? I am told that last summer the people concerned were allowed 3p per mile in respect of transport and £2 for overnight subsistence. This is hardly adequate.

I have not a note on that but as the Deputy has mentioned the matter I will look into it and let him know the outcome.
