Vol. 312 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Wexford Health Centres.

164.

asked the Minister for Health the new health centres being built or being planned for County Wexford; when the health centres being built will be completed; and when the health centres being planned will be started.

There are no new health centres at present under construction in County Wexford. An extension to the existing health centre in Enniscorthy is at present under construction and is expected to be completed shortly. New major health centres are planned for New Ross and Gorey. Work on the health centre at New Ross is expected to start in the near future and work on the health centre at Gorey is expected to start towards the end of the current year. Minor schemes for the provision of health centres at Campile and Kilmuckridge are also being planned by the South Eastern Health Board and the board hopes to be in a position to proceed with their construction next year.

165.

asked the Minister for Health what progress has been made in the building of a health centre in New Ross, County Wexford.

The South Eastern Health Board's proposals for the acceptance of tenders for the construction of the new health centre at New Ross have recently been submitted to my Department for approval.

It is expected that examination of the proposals will be completed shortly and that building work will commence within the next few months.
